Makara

The Makara is a creature found in the vast deserts of the Eastern Continent. The beast resembles a cross between a crocodile and an elephant, having an exceptionally long nose, a large head, and a low-lying body and long tail. Its sand-colored skin is wrinkly about the face and underbelly, with scales protecting the back, legs, and tail. The makara digs deep holes in the sand with its powerful front legs and plunges its nose into the ground for many hours at a time, often as it sleeps, as it slowly sucks up moisture from below, much like a tree root. The beast is herbivorous, slow moving, clumsy, and gentle.
